I bid you a very hearty and warm welcome to my web site. Thank you for visiting it.

My name is Dr. Suman Bhusan Bhattacharyya and I am currently the President of Indian Association for Medical Informatics for the 2010 - 2011 session.

I have done MBBS from India, and MBA in International Management from Belgium. I also know computer programming and although I have several diplomas in the same, most of my IT knowledge is self-taught. I have over 22 years of experience as a medical doctor, 6 years in hospital administration and over 7 years as a full-time healthcare domain expert to such IT companies as iSOFT plc, Satyam Computer Services, Oracle, GE Healthcare IITS, and Karishma Software Ltd.

Currently, I work as a healthcare IT consultant and run my own concern called Sudisa Consultancy Services.

I act as a consultant in all areas of healthcare IT including Clinical Transformation, designing business and functional model architectures using UML and performing requirements management besides doing testing.

My experience in computers range from PCs running such OS as DOS, WIndows™, UNIX, Linux; programming languages like PHP, HTML, Javascript, ASP, C, Java 2, Perl, VBScript, VB, BASIC; database applications like MySQL™, Oracle™, SQL Server™, Foxpro™, Access™; Networking in Novel NetWare™; besides the normal office application suites.

My principal interests are in the field of medical informatics, especially telemedicine, a subject on which I did my capstone thesis besides evidence based medicine and artificially intelligent clinical decision support systems.

For the Uninitiated...

Telemedicine: The art of delivering the best of available health care to anyone without the constraints of geographical or technological barriers between the deliverer and the receiver of such care.
Evidence Based Medicine: The current, conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the healthcare of individual patients.
Medical Informatics: The study, intervention and implementation of structures and algorithms to improve communication, understanding and management of medical information. All this is made possible through the coalescing of data, knowledge and the tools necessary to apply the above in the decision making process at a time and place that the decision needs to be made. The focus being on the various structures and algorithms necessary to manipulate the information.
Clinical Transformation: Clinical transformation has been defined as a comprehensive ongoing approach to care delivery excellence that offers value while measurably improving quality, enhancing service, and reducing costs through the effective alignment of people, process and technology.
